MSP WELCOMES RECORD SALES FOR LEES FOODS

John Wilson MSP for Central Scotland has welcomed the news that the Coatbridge based Food Company Lees Foods has reported an increase in pre-tax profits to almost £400,000.

Lees Foods, which makes a range of well known products, including its world famous snowballs, has confirmed that both its Lees of Scotland and Waverley Bakery operations have achieved record success. Lees Foods Company was forced to offset the Euro exchange rate which pushed up the costs of raw materials by reducing energy costs and improving efficiency.

John Wilson MSP said “it is excellent news that a company rooted in Coatbridge has succeeded in achieving record profits, especially during this time of economic difficulty. Ensuring job security is crucial at present and generating profits on this scale will go some way to safeguarding employment throughout the area”

“It is always encouraging to hear that local companies are flourishing by making sound commitments to a reduction in energy costs and increased efficiency in the face of other financial restraints”
